One of my oldest trees, actually a hausplant, is this shoe flower, or chinese rose. It´s from cuting taken in 1996. Relatively slow growing, poor trunk thickening and disproportionaly big leaves make this species not so common in bonsai culture. If it´s not often pruned, big red flowers appear almost throughout the year, unfortunatelly they last only a few days. Regular cut can provide quite small leaves, but without flowers. In summer I grow this plant outdoor on my terrace, now in october is back in house.
Jeden z mojich najdlhšie pestovyných stromov, vlastne bytových rastlín, je táto čínska ruža. Mám ju z odrezku z roku 1996. Relatívne pomalý rast, slabé hrubnutie kmeňa a disproporčne obrovské listy robia tento druh nie príliš častým a obľúbeným v bonsajovej kultúre. Ak nie je rastlinka strihaná, na koncoch výhonkov sa objavujú veľké červené kvety, ktoré však pretrvávajú iba niekoľko dní. Pravidelným zaštipovaním možno listy pomerne slušne zmenšiť, avšak bez kvitnutia. V lete ju pestujem vonku na terase, teraz v októbri je už späť v dome. Príjemné osvieženie domácnosti, najmä keď vonku sa už všetko chystá na zimný odpočinok.
